WHY, OH WHY by Bettina

Her Point of View

She stared at him for another second before turning away, she´d let go of the one joy in her world and he was never going to forgive her for her one mistake. He seemed happy now, as if a burden had been lifted of his shoulders, at least he was able to live the life he´d always dreamt of, the life he´d always admired.

His Point of View

He looked at her for a second before turning away again, trying to get involved in the conversation going on around the table. She´d gotten prettier and prettier every time he’d returned home, she´d probably moved on by now, it had been almost a year since he´d made the mistake of his life and letted her go. looked at him, he regretted chosing this restaurant, not knowing she was working there now, but no one could deny that the food was outstanding and they were able to eat without being interrupted by fans asking for autographs and wanting to take their picture. “I´m sorry mate," said placing his hand on ’s shoulder trying to comfort him, hoping that somehow he could make take part in their conversation.
“Don´t be, it´s alright,” replied and smiled, trying to cheer up a bit for the guys, at least this was their summerbreak and he had to make the best of it, finally he´d be able to relax and stay in late, doing whatever he liked. Being famous and living the life in a boyband wasn´t exactly as he´d imagined it to be, he hated getting up early, but he had to. Besides that you never knew who your real friends were, at least he´d been able to count on the other guys, but he missed that one special person, that best friend, that soulmate of his, she´d been able to understand his every move, even the words he´d never said, they´d shared that special bond. Looking back now he regretted that decision of his, but he´d been put in a difficult decision, it was either her or his career, she´d made it very clear to him that she understood his decision whatever it´d be and he´d chosen his career. It had been at the very beginning, things were so new and interesting, he´d been amazed by fame and everything that came along, it hadn´t taken him long to forget about everything back home, he´d lived the life of a real popstar, he´d had lots of different girls over the last year, but reality had struck at one point and he´d gotten sick and tired of it. Being in front of an audience, singing his heart out to the fans and making peoples lives happy through the music had always been his dream, but he wasn´t into the whole media life anymore, he just wanted to go back home after a concert and be with the people that meant the most to him, his family and close friends, he wanted someone to come back home to, someone to love and someone who loved him for him and not from the Backstreet Boys.
looked at and back at , he would have sworn that he´d seen the old sparkle between them, he´d always been jealous of . had never been good around girls, but he didn´t need to either, he´d found the perfect partner in his next door neighbour, the girl he´d always been best mates with. smiled, at least he´d found love now, had let go of something precious, everyone would have sworn that would have left the band when he was told the sacrifices he´d have to make, but to surprise had chosen career. Oh so many nights had had to listen to ' s complaints about that exact decision, everyone would have thought that she´d try to contact , she´d had to… none of them could live without the other, but she never had, it was as if she´d totally forgotten about him, the minute he´d told her about his decision.

Her Point of View

Finally she was off, she didn´t like hanging around the guys, it reminded her to much of all the pain she´d gone through, all because of the one guy she though was her best friend. All the sleepless nights, all the tears she´d cried over him, it was over, she had to move on, she had to get on with her life. The day he´d left, she´d been contacted by a big scary guy outside her door, he´d told her that if she ever took contact to again, she would regret it for the rest of her life. She´d later found out that the guy was their security guard and that in fact he was a nice person despite his scary face. had moved away from home AND changed his phonenumber, so she finally decided that if he was ever to walk back into her life, he´d have to be the one contacting her. The first few months she´d been stuck around the phone hoping that he´d call, but he never had and eventually she´d decided that it was time to move on. She´d been going out with a few guys, but none of them were , she still missed him.
She grabbed her coat and left the restaurant heading back home, she now lived with her best friend , not to far away from the rest of her family or 's family. Outside the restaurant a bunch of girls had gathered as the news had gotten out, that the Backstreet Boys were in that exact restaurant, she stopped up to answer a few questions that some girls asked her, they were innocent questions she thought and smiled as some girl wanted to know exactly what the guys were eating so she could have the same one day. A tall darkhaired girl appeared out of nowhere and gave an evil look as she entered the restaurant, overheard some of the girls talking about the darkhaired beauty as s new fling. She was beautiful thought to herself as she walked down the street heading home, he´d deffinetly gotten to live the life he´d always told her he wanted to live, she´d never stand a chance with those girls anyhow so why couldn´t she stop thinking about him.
As she got back home, she changed to go back out with and some of their girlfriends, it was 's birthday and she´d promised to go clubbing though she was tired after a long day at work. She took one final look in the mirror, this would have to do for now she though and smiled, she felt confident now, she was a pretty girl, not model like, but she deffinetly had some potential. She went to the livingroom to the other girls waiting and then headed down to the club.

His Point of View

had joined them for dinner, he´d met her at their last tour, she´d been one of their dancers and they´d gotten along really well. She always spoke of them as boy and girlfriend, but he´d never really asked her to go steady with him, actually he´d never even kissed her, only held her hand and taken her out as a friend. She was quite pretty, he though to himself as he smiled, every guy in the room would kill to go out with her, but his mind kept drifting somewhere else. He longed to hold her hand again, hear her sweet laugther, see her smile, hold her tight, if he ever got the chance, this time he would never let go of her again, he missed .
After dinner they all left to go clubbing, decided to take the mainentrance and sign some autographs, he loved making the fans happy, while the other guys and their girlfriends left through the kitchen to avoid the fans. joined and they agreed with the others that they would meet up at the club later on. He smiled as the fans basically attacked him asking for autographs, this was the part of fame he liked. stood in the background watching the scene, she didn´t really like the fans, she wanted all to herself.
found himself quite surprised when a fan asked if his steak had been good and started questioning them as to where they knew what he´d been eating. “This waitress told us,” a girl said, “she was really nice though, heading home she told us!” “What waitress?” asked surprised, “was she this girl with amazing eyes?” “Her nametag said ,” the girl replied, signed some more autographs before leaving with , why had talked to the fans, why did she notice what they´d been eating, did she still miss him as much as he missed her?

Her Point of View

“Wow, you look gorge!” a familiar voice said and she turned around and smiled at , she´d liked him from the minute had introduced the 2 of them, he was a good friend and despite the things that had happened, they still talked some times.
“Hey there perfect stranger," laughed as she gave him a hug, wasn´t around, otherwise wouldn´t be so sweet to her and she understood, she didn´t want to ruin anything.
“You know he still misses you!" said dragging her onto the dancefloor, she was a good dancer when she did dance, she would often just watch and thought that was a shame, she was a bit shy, but she was such a nice person.
“Yeah right, what about that girl?" said and laughed, she was surprised how could make her mood change in a second, she´d been tired and bored untill he´d shown up. “What… how do you know ?” asked not even bothering to look around, he was having to much fun to notice and entering the room. watched having fun with some girl until he got a better view and saw who it was. Why was she here, why did she have to remind him of the mistake he´d made, of all the suffering he was going through and why did dance with her?
“The fans outside the restaurant told me,” smiled, “she´s gorge, he´s really living the life now isn´t he?” “Yeah, he´s living the life, he loves and adores his fans, but , she´s just a friend, she might see him as more, but he doesn´t,” replied, “but he´s the sweet one, at the end of the day, all he wants is someone back home to come home to, you know, someone to love.”
They ended the dance and returned to his girlfriend who was sat chatting with the other guys and girls, they´d all become this one little group of friends. gave an evil look as he joined them, knew exactly why he´d done that, but didn´t really care anymore, had let go of a friend, but wasn´t going to.

His Point of View

Why had she been there, why had been dancing with her, why did she smile as if nothing had happened, she´d probably moved on and he needed to as well, it was just hard now, even harder after seing her. had gone back home, they´d had a bit of a fight as wanted to be alone and wanted more, she was only after him for his fame anyhow, she loved the attention the media gave them, but when it came to the fans, the real reason why he loved this job so much, she became a completely different person, she didn´t like them and she letted the fans know. on the other hand was so perfect, sweet and gentle, the fans would love her, in fact he loved her, it was hard not to, she was the best thing in his life. He grabbed his cellphone and found her number, he´d kept it though they´d lost contact, hoping that some day he´d might get to use it again, he pressed dial and listened as the phone started ringing, it was 4 AM, but he didn´t really care, he just needed to hear her voice, he would hang up when she answered anyway, he just needed the excitement and to know that she was alone.

Her Point of View

She grabbed her phone wondering who would call her in the middle of the night, a year ago she wouldn´t have bothered knowing that it would be , but things had changed. She didn´t know the number showing in the display and answered her phone, but there was no one on the other end of the line or at least the person hung up on her. Annoyed she threw the phone on her bed and sat down looking out the window, the sun had begun to rise and the birds were singing, she didn´t feel like sleeping and grabbed her coat, deciding to tak a walk in the woods. and her had spent many mornings in the woods, watching the sun rise and talking, they´d go clubbing and then leave to take their walk, they´d even slept in the woods at times. She watched a figure from a distance, he was sat at that exact location, looking over the lake and listening to the birds. She didn´t feel like having someone else´s company, but was dragged to him somehow anyway, coming closer, she realised that she knew the person, it was .

His Point of View

“Mind if I join you?” he heard an angelic voice say and was dragged out of his dreaming, this couldn´t be happening, it couldn´t be her. He slowly turned around to watch an angel standing behind him, at least to him she looked like an angel. He didn´t reply, he just nodded his head and she sat down next to him, not saying a word, she didn´t have to, he knew exactly what she was thinking, he knew all the thoughts that went through her mind at that point and he couldn´t help but smile. “It was you who called me, wasn´t it?” she finally said and he smiled, finally he was happy. “Yeah, I just needed to hear that sweet voice of yours one more time,” he said looking at her, she was blushing but he didn´t notice. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close, he´d never ever let her go again, he kissed her hair and she smiled and looked up at him, their eyes met for that one special moment and they both knew it was meant to be. Everything that had happened through the last year was forgotten, every sad feeling was erased and replaced with happiness, it was all he wanted, it was all he´d needed, he´d finally gotten the girl of his dreams. He moved closer and their lips met in a kiss, the best kiss he´d ever had, the only kiss he´d longed for all his life, his search was over, his pain had been removed, for the first time that year he was truly happy and she felt the same.
